Analytics (Google Analytics)
To see which articles get read and how much, this site uses Google Analytics, a service of Google LLC. Google Analytics uses cookies and, when you open a page, sends the following to Google. It doesn’t send anything that identifies you by name, such as your name or email address.
- What’s sent: the URL and title of the page you view, the page you came from, your browser and device type, screen size, approximate location (country and region), language, how long you stay on the page, and an identifier stored in a cookie
- Why: to learn which articles are popular and where readers come from, so I can make the articles and the site better
- Who receives it: Google LLC (How Google uses information from sites that use its services)
Nothing is used for ads. If you’re visiting from the EU, the UK, or a few other countries, analytics cookies are only used after you agree. To opt out, turn off cookies in your browser or use the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Search data (Google Search Console)
I use Google Search Console to see what searches this site shows up for on Google, and how often it’s shown and clicked. That data is counted on Google’s side; it doesn’t collect anything new from people who open the site.
Language setting
When you pick a language at the top of the page, your choice is saved in a cookie (lang) so the site remembers it next time. Visitors from outside Japan are shown the English version by default.
Affiliate programs
This site is a participant in the Amazon Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.co.jp.
