Why Not Mop While You Vacuum? With Dyson Joining In, Wet Cleaning Is Now a Must for Vacuums
A vacuum that mops turned out to be way more comfortable than I expected.
I’m Hide, tech journalist and part-time house-husband. Mopping, which is becoming standard on robot vacuums, is now getting the spotlight in stick vacuums too. Dyson releasing a wet cleaner has sped up the trend.
This time I’m introducing the Tineco FLOOR ONE S7 Pro. Tineco is a subsidiary of ECOVACS, famous for robot vacuums. When I lived in the US, carpet spot cleaners, wet cleaners, and steam appliances were everywhere, but they’re only just catching on in Japan.

In Japan, we don’t wear shoes indoors, and we put covers on sofas — it’s a culture focused on “not getting things dirty.” So it makes sense these haven’t been seen as necessary. But to me, it was like, “You use a Quickle Wiper, so why not a wet-cleaning vacuum?” I do kind of get the feeling of “vacuum first, then mop” (lol).
But if you can vacuum and mop at the same time and get things clean, that’s way more efficient. That’s the idea behind the S7 Pro. I got to use it before its Japan release, and I wrote about the downsides at the end too, so read on.
For my articles, I sometimes receive products on loan or as samples from companies, within the bounds of Yahoo! News’ rules. However, if a product doesn’t meet my standards for writing about it after actually using it, or if its downsides significantly outweigh its good points, I return it and don’t write about it. I don’t receive any payment from companies.
Vacuuming and mopping in one
I hesitated at first too. Is it okay to mop where there’s hair on the floor? Won’t it just spread the dirt around? But after using it, nothing’s more convenient. It can even suck up liquids.
It picks up wet and dry messes alike — handy
Being able to instantly clean up stuff kids often spill, like milk, is super convenient. The [Hoover spot cleaner](https://item.rakuten.co.jp/tenposeisou/7202230220000/) we use can pick that up too, though.

With the S7 Pro, you can mop while vacuuming, and it sits on its charging station ready to go, which is really convenient.

## It wrings as it wipes so dirt doesn’t come back — and self-cleaning is great
Unlike a Quickle Wiper, it always supplies clean water and wipes while wringing. Dirty water is squeezed out and sucked up immediately, so it’s gone by the brush’s next rotation. Robot vacuums mop now too, but they don’t always wipe with something clean, so I liked this system.
Cleaning the roller as it wipes is something other mopping products don’t doIt wrings out and sucks up dirty water while supplying fresh water, so dirt doesn’t get spread back
The S7 Pro also has an electrolysis module in the water tank, turning the water into acidic electrolyzed water (hypochlorous acid water) at pH 6.5 or below. It’s said to have strong disinfecting power against bacteria, food-poisoning germs, and viruses, so it’s extra reassuring for homes with kids — especially since it’s constantly supplying that water as you mop. This cleaning method is unique to the S7 Pro, so it’s an important factor when deciding.
Besides the dedicated cleaner, it can turn plain water into electrolyzed water. After mopping, it even smells disinfected
With wet cleaners, you worry about germs and odors after cleaning, but no need here. I’ve used it for about two months, and thanks to self-cleaning, I haven’t smelled anything from the brush yet. When you put it back on the station, it offers a self-clean option, which cleans the brush with electrolyzed water too.
Dock it on the station to clean the brush with Quick or Deep mode
The great part: it cleans the brush without dripping water everywhere. All the water used to clean the brush gets sucked into the dirty-water tank, so the base station never gets soaked. Finally, dump the dirty water and you’re done. Fine debris gets caught by the filter so it doesn’t mix with the water, and a quick rinse cleans the tank.
Even the dirty water from self-cleaning is all sucked into the tank — handy
I was really impressed by how easy maintenance after cleaning is.
This filter catches fine debris, so the dirty-water tank is easy to clean

Maintenance and keeping it clean are really easy, and the station holds a cleaning brush and spare parts. You always start with a clean machine, which is reassuring.
Self-propelled so it’s easy to push — but a little heavy?
The body is self-propelled and senses forward and backward motion to help you along, so it feels really light to push. Cleaning on the floor, you barely feel the weight at all.
The rollers assist forward and backward movement like an e-bike, so despite its weight, it glides across the floor
But when you turn it off and carry it between floors, like upstairs, you might notice the weight.
With a decent-sized battery inside, it feels a bit heavy when you carry it
The other thing I noticed is that dried-on messes need a bit more time. Instead of pushing it back and forth, you have to hold the spinning brush on the spot, or completely dried messes won’t come off.
Unbeatable on damp messes, but dried ones take a little technique
That said, the S7 Pro adjusts water output based on the mess, which helps. It detects floor dirt automatically, so unless it’s really bad, it comes off easily. You can also clean straight from the entryway (where shoes are worn) into the house, which is a convenience no other product offers.
It shows how clean things are on the big display, which makes cleaning easierAuto mode adjusts power and water automatically, so the battery lasts even when cleaning big areas
## Surprisingly perfect for Japanese homes, where we often lie on the floor
Japanese homes we thought were clean as long as there was no dust often turn out to be pretty dirty when you mop. With that in mind, being able to mop and disinfect every time you clean makes the S7 Pro a really strong option.
The only one that mops with constantly clean water while disinfecting
Our younger daughter is 8 months old and will be playing on the floor a lot from now on, so it’s reassuring to keep it clean with the S7 Pro. Kids spill food all the time too, so it’s perfect for families with young children.
