JOYSOUND × Philips Hue: A Luxurious Light-Synced Room You Can Now Enjoy at Karaoke!

A dream room is now easy to experience.

The JOYSOUND × Philips Hue collab rooms that were only in Shibuya and Shinagawa can now be enjoyed all over Japan!

Renamed the “Aurora Lighting Room,” it’s a dream space where a big monitor and the room’s lighting are perfectly synced, so it feels like you’re inside the screen. It was such a hit that it’s rolling out nationwide.

The project combines JOYSOUND — which wants people to use karaoke rooms for more than singing, like watching live streams and music videos — with Philips Hue’s real-time sync, which maximizes immersion in what’s on screen.
Hue Sync reads the screen’s colors precisely and mirrors them in the lights with perfect timing — amazing.

I’ve had this setup at home for a while (some of you may have seen it on TV shows like Futtō Word 10), and once you experience it, there’s no going back.

The catch is that setting it up at home costs a fair bit. You only really get how good it is once you try it, but to try it you have to buy it — that’s been the dilemma.
The latest indirect-lighting Hue products are gorgeous, but pricey to just install at home. Being able to try it at all is really valuable.

This collab solves even that. In the Aurora Lighting Room, you just rent the room for the same price as karaoke and enjoy JOYSOUND’s huge library of content and songs. Having it all reproduced in the room with perfectly synced lighting can even trick you into feeling like you’re inside the screen.
I was surprised JOYSOUND has so much content you can enjoy without singing.

People use karaoke in more ways these days, like going just to watch their idol’s music videos. That’s hard to do at home, but at karaoke the room is soundproofed so you can shout all you want, and you can order food and drinks. It’s honestly the best.
It even has top-notch speakers, for an experience only a karaoke room can offer.

It’s great news that you can now experience this at JOYSOUND locations nationwide. Hokkaido and Tohoku aren’t covered yet, but it’s available at major-city locations from Kanto southward.
After Shinagawa and Shibuya, it’s now rolling out to major cities nationwide.

Each room got a new big-screen monitor, and even the room lighting and wallpaper were changed and optimized for Philips Hue, so you get maximum immersion at any location.

Collabs between big companies are surprisingly hard, so it’s notable that they teamed up so flexibly — and that JOYSOUND itself keeps proposing new ways to use karaoke rooms beyond karaoke (there’s even a sewing room in collab with parent company Brother’s sewing machines, and rooms for band practice!).

I’ll keep an eye on what they do next.
