I Thought They Were Real Flowers — They’re Bricks! So Realistic That for a Lazy Guy Like Me, They Might Beat the Real Thing

Hi to everyone who gets a bouquet and then doesn’t know what to do with it at home — I’m Hide, tech journalist and part-time house-husband. This time, from a house-husband’s point of view, I found a piece of decor that’s “perfect for the home!” I get the complaint that “LEGO these days has too many special pieces!”, but build this and it’ll open your eyes for sure. What makes it great is how realistic it is and how freely you can fit it into any container. It’s easier to arrange than real flowers, and it’s something adults can enjoy for a long time.

The LEGO® Icons “[Wildflower Bouquet](https://www.lego.com/ja-jp/product/wildflower-bouquet-10313)”, released on February 1, 2023, is a gem that blends amazing realism with how cool bricks look. What I loved most is that you arrange it however you like, display it, and it stays in your ideal arrangement forever without any care. I know, I know. Taking care of flowers and keeping them beautiful is part of the fun. But I bet some people are like “I want to grow them, but I kill them.” There must be! I’m one of them!

I can hear people saying, “If you want green at home, just get fake plants,” but the fact that it’s LEGO bricks is exactly what’s great. “Up close, it’s kind of blocky!” — that’s cooler than plain fake plants. The LEGO® Botanical Collection keeps a LEGO feel in the parts other than the petals and leaves. That balance is just right.
From a distance it looks totally real, but up close you go “It’s LEGO!” — a really nice balance

What moved me was being able to make the ideal arrangement in my favorite bud vase. This Edo kiriko bud vase is by [Kohei Kobayashi](https://www.instagram.com/edokirikokobayashii/), an Edo kiriko glass artisan I deeply respect. I bought it on the spot because I fell in love with it, but arranging store-bought flowers in it is pretty tricky.

Even when I managed to arrange them well, they wouldn’t bloom or would wilt quickly. It ended up coming out less and less, but with this Wildflower Bouquet, I can use it every day.

As you build, your imagination grows too — “When the season changes, maybe I’ll buy this one and do it like this.” That’s fun. Here’s how it compares to real flowers.

When I checked, the price was ¥7,080 (as of February 8, 2023). Not cheap, but it’s an approachable price for LEGO, and at this quality it’s worth it.

I’m totally hooked, and next I’ve got my eye on these succulents. If you’ve never kept flowers or plants around, how about it?
